Lohan Jeweler Sells Surveillance Video to Entertainment Tonight

The jeweler who was reportedly the "victim" in the Lindsay Lohan theft case has just cashed in, and probably for far more than the value of the $2,500 the troubled actress allegedly stole: it has just sold the surveillance video in the case to Entertainment Tonight.

Entertainment Tonight plans to air the video on Monday night. The jewelry store is Kamofie & Co. The store has apparently been working with a broker for the last few days in an attempt to cash in, and the broker was working with numerous media outlets to try to sell it to the highest bidder.

Radar Online said that the sale was worth $35,000 to the jeweler. Neither the prosecutor nor the defense wanted the video sold, the site reported.

Still worse, Radar Online reported that an attorney representing Kamofie & Co. spoke to Lindsay Lohan's lawyer, Shawn Holley, prior to the deal being closed. According to RO, the reason was to make sure that no other copies of the video were leaked or sold, to ensure maximum value for their own deal. A source "close to the situation" told RO:.

"The jewelry store owner's lawyer was contacting Shawn Holley and trying to obtain HER copy of the video, and also wanted Shawn not show the tape to anyone. The ONLY reason they were contacting Shawn was so they would be assured the video could be sold for more money, and securing a lucrative financial gain for the jewelry store owner."

It's unclear how this will affect the prosecution's case, but the fact that the jeweler sold the videomay ensure that the defense can characterize the "incident" as a way for the jeweler to cash in.

Lohan has always said the necklace was a loan. The day after she was charged, she Tweeted, "fyi- i would never steal, in case people are wondering. I was not raised to lie, cheat, or steal." Some have criticized that Tweet, as Lohan has previously "lied" about taking or not taking drugs or alcohol.

Update: it's been reported that the broker still has the video, and that other media sites have varying rights to it, as well as Entertainment Tonight.
