Ricki Lake's returning to daytime TV
Oprah Winfrey's on her way out, but talk show vet Ricki Lake is making the move back to daytime.
According to Broadcasting & Cable, Lake is officially developing an hour-long talk program with Twentieth Television.
While her old show, which was distributed by Sony Entertainment and aired from 1993-2004, was aimed at younger women, Lake is now thinking more broadly. B&C reports that the 42-year-old single mom will cover topics like family, marriage, parenting, divorce, weight-loss, health and nutrition.
Twentieth Television is gearing up for a fall 2012 debut on broadcast stations, cable networks or some combination of both.
Lake said in a statement that it’s "been very fulfilling for the past seven years to focus my energy on advocacy work on behalf families and children.” Nonetheless, she’s “excited to return to my roots and work with Twentieth Television to develop a talk show that will give me an opportunity to share my experiences and reconnect with audiences.”
