Odd choice: Billie Piper wore black socks and wedges and didn't appear to have brushed her hair on day five of the Goodwood races
Raceday fashion is usually about big hats and summery dresses.
But Billie Piper got it terribly wrong on day five of Glorious Goodwood today.
She appeared to have taken a leaf out of the late actress Judy Garland's book by wearing thick black socks with wedges.
Garland wore white socks with the famous red slippers when she played Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz in 1939.
Billie wore a baggy, floral dress that came down to her shins. It had large pockets and bizarre black and white, swirly buttons.
The former Doctor Who star, 28, paired the ensemble with a black clutch and pale yellow nailpolish.
Her hair looked as though it hadn't been brushed and she opted not to wear a hat, unlike most of the other raceday-goers.
Old school: Billie appears to have been inspired by the Wizard of Oz while picking her raceday fashion
But her actor husband Laurence Fox, 32, managed to pull off the perfect look with a smart grey suit and sunglasses.
The couple, who have been married since 2007, were shown around the paddock by the owner of Goodwood estate, Lord March.
They appeared to have left 2-year-old son Winston behind for some grown-up time.
They later happily answered questions from the press.
Today's event featured two races, the Tanqueray Richmond Stakes and the Totesport Mile.
Hypnotising: Billie's floral dress had bizarre swirly buttons
Laurence is best known as playing Detective Sergeant James Hathaway in the British TV drama series Lewis.
His father is veteran actor Robert Fox and Edward Fox, Robert Fox and Daniel Chatto are all uncles.
Meanwhile, Billie has struggled to find work since her hit series Secret Diary of a Call Girl ended this year.
Happy couple: Billie and husband Laurence Fox laugh and joke on a day out without their two-year-old son Winston

She told the Hollywood Reporter: ‘I’m just trying to find a job. We’re back to the drawing board.
‘It’s frustrating, it’s tiring. It’s desperate. You slightly lose your mind. You have no confidence, then you have too much confidence.
‘It’s an endless frustration. That’s the nature of the beast. You have to suck it up and get on with it.’
